Fine Arts Programs

Pike County is known for its long running success in the fine arts. We are pleased to offer courses at this level in Visual Arts, Chorus, Theatre, and Band. Some of these courses require a year-long commitment and are associated with growing extracurricular programs as well.

Chorus offers the opportunity to participate in a vocal music program dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in music through performance. Students participate in daily rehearsals, perform three evening concerts during the school year, and compete at district LGPE. Throughout the year, all chorus students ill learn music performance skills, music theory, music appreciation, and leadership skills.

General Music class provides the basic / beginner instruction on guitar performance including correct hand position, correct picking / plucking style, knowledge of notes on the finger board, the reading of musical notation, various styles of guitar performance, and other techniques.

Band is designed to offer students the opportunity to further develop fundamental skills and advance as musicians through the performance of band literature, equivalent to at least grade level 1-3, depending on grade level.
